Staging & the Design of your home
0 Comments Published by popelynne May 26th, 2008 in Design. by popelynneMarketing your home is like sending out a rainbow report to the world…
This home is here for you. If it is vacant I like to place Artwork, Plants and Accessories throughout the home. Theme ideas from Asian to beach, dramatic and artistic styles I have used.
All the excitement is created for your listing; open houses are held for brokers and the public, just listed flyers are mailed and hand delivered, signs and flags are posted, snacks are served. After that, all we can do is listen to the music of the house. It begins and speaks to the heart of the buyer; ”This home is a space to be valued and loved”.

STAGING A HOME
A home showing an open house is a stage. The curtains open, the lights dim, the drama begins. Take a walk through your home and see what you can do to bring out the home and put it on stage. Stand across the street and look at your home. Evaluate what you can do to improve your first impression. Light painting, lawn care and sweeping the leaves from the driveway are small things that can influence a first impression.
ARRIVAL
Music, lighting and smells are some of the first greetings when you enter a home. Take special care in these areas as first impressions are the ones that tend to last.
I spent over 20 years creating these first impressions with my own interior design company. I specialize in first impressions. Whether it was for a residence, or a large company, we made these first impressions count, and so can you. The right plants, artwork, and other accessories dress up a house with a brushstroke of color.
Do not section off any areas. The full house must be opened up for people to see. Each person that enters your home thinks of it, potentially, as their home. They think, “What can I add or remove that would make this home special for me and my family?” So give your new buyers that opening they expect. Remove clutter, as “less is more.” Hang new towels in the bathroom. There is an endless array of opportunities when staging a home. We can explore staging in more detail together when the time is right
