Redondo Beach Living

Living at the beach means so many things to share. Sunny days, saved bread to take to feed seagulls at the beach, people walking dogs daily down the streets, Restuarants easy drop by and sit down. Many breakfast only spots, we have so many dining choices. Many pizza and hamburger locations. Walk to school or church. Amazing library in Redondo has books video and dvd rentals.
This weekend we had cooling fog which burned off by 11 am and an afternoon breeze. Few places need air conditioners this close to the beach. When people out of area visit they are amazed. This w
We went to Lowes and bought flowers the “new wave petunia “which drapes, new pots for growing palms, and had so much mothers day fun creating a summer of flowers to enjoy. Children were jumping rope, scooting on razors, being pulled by dogs on skateboards, playing in an old refrigerator box as a fort, climbing trees, and doing gymnastics on the lawns. Adults were out visiting each other on the sidewalks. One wonderful neighbor has taken up the cause of a wonderful orphan cat. He was cared for by someone who moved. The neighbor 2 doors down said she could take the cat but she was going to be gone on a long trip. The person next door agreed to care for him till she returned. Complicated? Well , imagine the cat, learning the patio to be on for 6 ms and then moving over a patio after that. And we all know he will be just fine. He has a bed which is located, moved, relocated and is always fed and petted. He is rolling with the changing world. Changes are likely and food is important and the weather is wonderful.

The road is high above the sand level in the Avenues area of Redondo Beach. It makes a beautiful place to watch the sunset or the dolpins( 5 went by today) Most surfers had on wetsuits and booties but there was was one bareback (surfer without a full suit). I love the moments of birds in flight.
Two for sale Which is BEST?

Two on a lot, back to back. North and South, Huntington Lane and Perkins. This week I held a brokers open house. It is so new the landscapers were putting in plants as I put up signs. Neighbors came first. They had been waiting for this day. They came in pairs usually. Today was no exception. I love to know their thoughts to take back to the Builders. Two friends came before they left for work. They carefully walked through each unit. They wondered if one of the bedrooms would be too small for a Kingsize bed since it had an unusual shape. I told them yes but they couldn’t see it. So I stepped it off with my feet and they still could not be convinced. I lay down on the floor to show the length and they were absolutely amazed. I left lots of headroom for pillows and headboard and still there was way more room than they thought. It really proved that empty rooms can be misleading as to the final size of furniture and space.
We had a good laugh as they helped pull me up and I dusted off my clothing. They loved the fact that the downstairs bath had a shower. So often it’s just toilet and sink. This would be great for the downstairs bedroom when guests visit. So we went to the rooftop deck. They loved the views. After all was searched toured and examined they decided which was best and convinced me. The Perkins side of the property faced Palos Verdes hills, it got the most afternoon sunshine and it just glowed as we stook there at 2 pm. We knew the other got the morning sun and had lots of great points. Yet we loved that Perkins sunshine. Come see it. 2620 Huntington Lane Redondo Beach. It is south of Artesia and West of Inglewood Ave. Only a mile from the Inglewood Bl exit at the 405 freeway. It is so fun to see. Balconies off each bedroom, patios and decks. The builder brought the outside in for a true California Sunny Home! Open House tours this weekend!

0 Comments Published by popelynne August 5th, 2008 in Redondo Beach. by popelynneThey love our city- Officer Campos and Officer Garcia-love working here in Redondo Beach. Even if it means being bitten by a ‘Possum….opossum…Officers today took the animal to release into the wilder parts of our county. The neighbor said he was eating the raccoons food… food is food…How will a skunk, cat raccoon or opossum know the difference in whose food is available. It reminds me of Indians and land…it never occurred to them that someone would divide it up and sell it.
What do you readers think? Feed some wild animals and trap others? most important is the good service the animal control in Redondo provides. Did you know that a skunk has to be trapped in a very special cage…? They do. It has to do with the skunk smell. The officers got a special slip harness to put on the animal so it could go from one cage to another. It was transferred successfully.

Redondo Beach real estate, HOMES for sale
1 Comment Published by popelynne July 24th, 2008 in Redondo Beach. by popelynneRedondo Beach real estate, homes for sale have more open houses this summer than ever! There is a reason. I was at a conference and I heard that Agents are looking for Buyers! With listings staying on the market longer, the expense of the listing really adds up. The buyer market is slim now as mortgage loans are for the few with 1099 stubs. The days of the stated income are rare right now.
When the news says the rates have come down. It doesn’t mean the consumer rates will fall. Call the mortgage lender of your choice today and check out the true interest rates. Then you will be ready to buy a home. It is the first time that interest rates and home prices have both been low. The prices will remain low for another year but will interest rates?

Starbucks in Redondo Beach
2 Comments Published by popelynne June 6th, 2008 in Redondo Beach. by popelynneThe heart of Redondo Beach is debated. The Hollywood Rivera says it is the area of Pacific Coast Highway as it turns and curves at the base of Palos Verdes. Three cities pour into this mix Palos Verdes, Torrance and Redondo Beach. They can all claim this STARBUCKS.
Starbucks is the community meeting place for all beach morning lovers. I had relatives in from Auburn, Alabama and we went over for our breakfast “Event.” The smells of coffee, the culture of the beach, the smiling faces all make the trip a fun treat. This is our idea of healthy over a big mac breakfast. The sit down, read the paper crowd verses the drive through rush. If you want to have a celestial morning come on down for a sunny stroll to the beach. I don’t even drink coffee so the juice is for me and the coffee for my visiting family.
